[Imported from Blogdrive]The Sunday Trip Rescheduled

The Sunday Trip Rescheduled
& nbsp;
It was an interesting Sunday evening on 29th July 2007. Initially I was thinking of Melmaruvathur trip. Later I had to meet a friend in daytime and since the planned meet was extending a bit, I had reschedule the Aadi Melmaruvathur Pilgrimage trip in my calendar to next week. Whilst that I thought I would visit Maduranthakam Yeri Katha Ramar, but analysing the transport situations, I thought I would rather schedule them sometime over the coming weekend.
& nbsp;
The following were some important reasons towards the same:
& nbsp;
& nbsp;

Since 29th July 2007 comes at a proximity to a new month there would be home-town travellers in huge numbers from Chennai.
29th July 2007 also was New Moon Day (பௌர்ணமி) and hence there would be huge crowds to Thiruvannamalai temple for the sacred Girivalam (கிரிவலம்). Even a five minute watch at Guindy Kathipara junction, you can see a lot of buses that have been specially alloted on the Chennai – Thiruvannamalai route.
Hence I have rescheduled them towards next weekend. I had a chance to meet another friend. Hence we travelled down to Tambaram and had some good Sambar Idli at Bhats Bhojan hotel near Tambaram bus stand, a bit of shopping at Tambaram before travelling home. The Sambar Idli is a very famous dish in Bhats Bhojan hotel in Tambaram. Perhaps if you get a time to travel to Tambaram you can try out the famous dish which is available round the clock from 7AM to 11 mid night. The hotel is located in the premises of Tambaram West Metropolitan Transport Corporation bus stand.<!–

[Imported from Blogdrive]The Ekadasi Thursday Trip to Thiruvallikeni

The Ekadasi Thursday Trip to Thiruvallikeni

The Thursday trip to Thiruvallikeni was more significant than anything else. Amongst the friends circles and in the religious proximity also. First among them was it was Ekadasi and hence significantly and very important day.

I only started a bit late about 1800 hours but managed to get more comfortable bus to Simpson (P. Orr & Sons). In a bit of confusion, instead of taking the subway turn into Walaja road, I took the other entrance and hence again had to manually jump across the road to reach the bus stop.

The temple sanctum sanctorums were relatively free of crowds but the main processional deity (உற்சவர்) was in the front hall since special Ekadasi prayers (மங்களாசாசனம்) were going on. Most of them were very interesting and famous Sri Rangam Pasurams. Actually, I like and love the following very much:

பச்சைமா மலை போல் மேனி பவள வாய் கமலச் செங்கண்அச்சுதா அமரரேறே ஆயர் தம் கொழுந்தே எனும்இச்சுவை தவிர யான் போய் இந்திர லோகமாளும்அச்சுவை பெறினும் வேண்டேன் அரங்கமா நகருளானே!

After the prayers, there was also nice Prasadam distribution. I then chose to drive back to my workplace sometime at 2100 hours and then home by 2300 hours.<!–

[Imported from Blogdrive]A Trip to Tambaram Income Tax Office

A Trip to Tambaram Income Tax Office
& nbsp;
It is July and time for all IT (Income Tax) assessed persons to file thier returns with Income Tax department. Actually I went on Monday morning but due to other hectic schedules and a bit of confusions, I had confusions between whether to file ITR-1 and/or ITR-2. This time, the forms have significantly changes. They are no longer Saral or Naya Saral (easy) rather you ought to devote at least thirty minutes of your time in translating your Form 16 from your employer into those forms. Furthermore, these are annexureless forms and hence your Form 16 would not be taken, unless you stand claim for some refunds, due to excess tax payments. I heard from the IT office, Tambaram representative that this time, they are planning to scan the forms and he was seen advising everyone to be double careful regarding the filling up of the forms. One guy got a wrong acknowledgement staff like 24-June-2006. While the counter guy was nonchalant with the stamp, the helpdesk at the groundfloor of the office, was very particular that the person fought back at the counter since this might give issues in the future.
& nbsp;
With the confusions, the Monday trip was not fruitful. So again I started in the afternoon of Tuesday (24 June 2007). Fortunately, I got a 21G Deluxe bus from Guindy. There was some innovation in the bus too. Similar to a few long route Kerala style buses, this bus conductor didn’t carry the usual paper tickets. He was carrying an electronic ticket issuing machine. Actually, I heard that Metropolitan Transport Corporation is testing this in a few routes. After I reached Tambaram, since I had anyway taken the printouts of the forms, I had to just confirm the details and submit the same.
& nbsp;
Tambaram Income Tax office seems to be better than Nungambakkam Aayakar Bhavan in that they have good facilities for sitting and writing. While Tambaram has less space available, they have broadminded and more hospitality to serve the people. After the return submission, I travelled back to workplace in the quick Korukkupet bound bus at about 1630 hours.<!–

[Imported from Blogdrive]This week trip to Thiruvallikeni and Early Weekend Fun with Rain

This week trip to Thiruvallikeni and Early Weekend Fun with Rain

Following up with the VIP Provisioning in the Thiruvallikeni temple last week, this week it was an interesting date with rain. With a view of not to take an undue advantage of VIP advantages every week, I just thought I would start a bit early; ‘early’ in the sense, it was about an hour before. When I reached LIC-Shanthi, it was about 1900 hours. I had to started to drizzle lightly and then the showers were more fierce. There are two bad things in Chennai, when even a slight downpour is observed:

The bus services slowly and steadily disappears from the road.
The autorickshaw fare sky-rocket like anything. You might be charged even upto 100 INR (2.50 USD) for a paltry distance of even 1 kilometer (0.6 miles).
Fortunately, I got a 40A Deluxe Trailer bus. First I thought it would be a comfortable journey since it is a new innovation from MTC. But the bus again revealed something different. Inspite of the new bus, the inner cielings started to leak like anything. The bus conductor was complaining of poor welding of joints and sheets. Somehow, the bus reached Thiruvallikeni after a couple of minutes journey.
The ‘Nallathambi Street’ which is the link between Thiruvallikeni bus stop and Car Street (at the end of which the temple is located) had another two interesting incidents to narrate:

The narrow street started to flood with ankle deep water throughout the street witnessing only about 30 minutes of rain.
Again, you can witness autorickshaw drivers charging upto 30 INR (0.74 USD) to reach the temple crossing the waters.
I somehow managed through the turbulent situations and reached the temple at 1950 hours. One good thing from the rain was it was again empty because of rains. So again, a VIP passage to all the sanctum sanctorums including ‘Veda valli Thayar Sannidhi’, ‘Azhagiya Singer sannidhi’. For the ‘Sri Parthasarathy’ sanctum sanctorum, I could even enter straight through the middle gate instead of the barrier queues.
After having the darshan, I started back to workplace at about 2030 hours. I managed to get a direct 45A to Velacherry. No sooner did the bus reach near the Halda junction, it was another interesting incident. I could see one rash-drive two wheeler splashing water on all pedestrians and depicting extreme gymastic tricks. In the darkness, I could not catch his vehicle registration number, which would have been a good one to report for TrafficViolators.com.
So, this week’s temple trip was fun-filled with a lot of interesting scenes along with devotional trip.<!–
