Today I had a meeting scheduled with some spiritual leader near Malleswaram Railway Station and hence started around 8 AM. I started an hour before 9 AM because 9 to 10.30 is Rahu Kalam on Saturdays. After an hour and a quarter journey to Majestic, found the bus to Malleswaram and got down near 18th cross. I found the way to Malleswaram Railway Station and hence his house. The discussions went on till 11.30 AM. I had some light shopping near the area and after refreshments started from there towards Kuvempu Nagar metro station. However I was not able to figure out the bus to Iskcon (Rajaji Nagar). I had to walk between Kuvempu Nagar Metro and Srirampura Metro Station. Finally discovered that there is no direct bus and hence caught a bus to Navrang Talkies and from there caught another bus to Mahalakshmi Layout Entrance. From here, ISKCON temple is a five to seven minute walk.
Since I had reached the temple around 3.30 PM I had to wait till 4.15 PM for the temple to open. But the amenities in the temple is splendid. Rest rooms, Footwear stand, Queue system etc. The sanctum sanctorums that the queue visits in that order are:
- Sri Prahlada Narasimha
- Sri Srinivasa
- Sri Radha Krishna (along with Balarama)
One of the ISKCON volunteer asked me to wait till 6 PM because as part of the 12 day Brahmotsavam festival there was Brahmarath scheduled where all the deities would be on the temple car. The Brahmarath decoration was beautiful and we could pull the car too. And en route the Brahmarath, rose petals were rained from top making it a delightful experience. The temple also keeps the area watered to keep it checked under heat waves. The procession went around the temple for an hour and a half. After having prasadam in the temple started back to Mahalakshmi Layout to catch a bus to Majestic and then onward bus to Bommanahalli to reach home.
Saturday 23rd April 2016 being Swathi day and after a lot of invitations and guidance from the temple committee member (Shri. Krishna Prasad), i had the opportunity to visit Abhaya Hastha Swayambhu Sri Lakshmi Narasimha swamy temple. The temple timings are are as below:
- Forenoon 7 AM to 1 PM
- Afternoon 4.30 PM to 7 PM
And hence I started from Koramangala around 8 AM to Attibele. Till Attibele I have monthly BMTC bus pass to take care of the journey. From Attibele to Hosur I took the TNSTC (Salem) bus. I remembered Prasad’s advice to go back the Hosur bus stand where we can get local town buses. Exactly there was a bus to Agaram Sri Balamurugan Koil which is the bus stop for this temple also. The journey took around 45 minutes along the Dharmapuri Rayakottai road. After reaching Dharmapuri at 11 AM had the darshan of the Lord. Prasad told me that the temple needs to be circumambulated 36 times. They had done the same thing as per their Gurujis’ guidance and the temple tank was brimming with sweet water at lesser depth.
After having Ven Pongal Prasadam, started from the temple back around 1 PM. The bus stop does not cater to express services. So be prepared to wait for a while for ordinary buses. Or if you are lucky you can get an auto to Udhanapalli (3 KMS still away) and get the express bus from there. After reaching Hosur caught a bus to Attibele and back home by 3 pM.
Facebook Community Page of the temple: https://www.facebook.com/Abaya-Hastha-Swayambu-Sri-Lakshmi-Narasimha-Swamy-Temple-Agaram-Hosur-606347076136417/?fref=ts
I also learnt from Prasad that 46th Jeer is planning a visit to the temple in next 15 days. So stay tuned to their page for more updates.
This Ugadi (8th April 2016) was a long weekend. Hence I was just thinking would plan a trip to either of the following destinations:
Finally zero-ed in on Namakkal because of proximity and availability of seats in the buses. When I started on 7th night to Shanti Nagar there was a lot of crowd in the bus stand with more special buses to Tirupathi. I managed to get hold of my Salem bound bus at 11 PM. After maneuvering through St. Johns, Madivala and Electronic City bus entered the highway to Hosur, Salem around 1 AM. The bus reached Salem at around 5 AM. I took the Trichy bound bus to reach Namakkal in less than an hour.
After checking into Sri Krishna Lodge which is just next to the temple, had the darshan of Namakkal Anjaneyar (sweetie). Just opposite the temple there is a temple for Sri Lakshmi Narasimha along with His consort, Sri Namagiri Thayar. This Thayar is known very much because renowned mathematician (Srinivasa Ramanujan) got Her permission before starting to England. After hiring a to/fro auto, reached another hillock temple of Sri Ranganatha. It is is said that Hanuman did the prathista of Lakshmi Narasimhan and Ranganatha temple in this divya kshetra.
After a brief halt at the hotel took the bus to Mohanur temple of Sri Kalyana Prasanna Venkata Ramar temple. It is around 1 1/2 kms distance from Mohanur bus stand. After having darshan of the Lord took the bus back to Namakkal for a night halt at the hotel. There was deity procession of Sri Lakshmi Narasimha, Sri Hanuman and Thayar around 8 PM.
Next day morning had quick darshan of Hanuman, Thayar and Lakshmi Narasimha before starting back to Salem and heading back to Shanti Nagar after a brief breakfast.
