Namakkal Trip to Tamil New Year

This Tamil New Year weekend we planned for a trip to Namakkal. On Tamil New Year night we took the Salem Express and reached Salem on Saturday morning. After freshening up in Salem junction itself headed straight to Namakkal town for darshan of Hanuman. After completing darshan of Hanuman took the bus to Salem junction again but en route got down for Kottai Mariamman Temple and Raja Ganapathy temple.

All temples complete and it was peak afternoon summer exhausting. So chose to wound up the tour and returned back to Railway Station. The same train which dropped us in the morning was standing in the platform. In the night got the train back to Tambaram.

Looks like hot summer ahead I don’t think so any outbound trips during April to June and hence this travelog would resume active trips from July onwards.

A Memorable Memorial Day Longest Road Trip to Panama City Beach (‘Kadalora Kavithaigal’)

This long weekend for Memorial Day had been a memorable day for me. After a brief stay at Kentucky it was time for me to move ahead to Oregon in short. We planned out a little long road trip instead of just flying down to Panama Beach City. It was around 9 hours drive through Nashville (TN), Atlanta (GA) and touching through Texas borders it enters into Panama City in the sunshine state.

Little did I realize that my Gurudev had another Kadalora Kavithaigal engineered in parallel. But that is another story, in line of Thendral serial of Vikatan in SunTV.

31 May 2012

My room mate called me around 4 PM to pick me from workplace so that we can get set go on the road trip around 6 PM. After packing up the required things, we started around 6 PM towards Atlanta GA. On the way, we had a brief halt near Chattanoga TN for dinner. The state of agriculture and commerce (Tennessee) had a distinct respect for me. One of my first homesteading was based out of /TN/ without much knowledge of the state/country itself. You can check out the same at

After a slow sojourn through Nashville TN  (with tears),  we reached Atlanta around 1 AM to catch a brief wink of sleep at Marriot in Atlanta Downtown.

1st June 2012

We resumed our flagship journey towards the beach haven around 7 AM. After a brief breakfast on the suburbs of Atlanta and a little furore-fun near Alabama, we reached Panama hotel around 6 PM.  How would I look calling it as Goa of the West or should Goa be called Panama of India?

2nd June 2012

We did have a few beachside strolls and visits to neighborhood places in the city. The beach itself is quite enough to hold you enthralled in Her elegance and eloquence of Her roaring waves. La Belle Dame Sans Merci.

After an aggressive night prowls and patrols till 2 AM we returned back to the hotel to take brief rest.

3rd June 2012

After quick breakfasts and packups we planned two quick activities before starting back to our routine work. The state park and boat rides.  After relishing on these and empowered with a good lunch at a Chinese restaurant, we started back on home-bound trip. The cops did join us in the party. We were gifted with a ‘overspeeding ticket’ near Alabama.

Our initial plan was to pull up near Nashville TN around 12 AM and resume the journey to avoid a non-stop journey. But by the time we touched Nashville it was 3 AM and rather than disturbing our weekday schedules we decided to finish off the journey by another one and half hour drive. Did I skip a nap in the lap of Nashville or was it good for obvious reasons?

A vacation trip to Manali…

It is time for me and my better-half to spend only for each other. After several days of sleepless nights filled with mundane chores and responsibilities, we had chosen to take a vacation break to Manali, Himachal Pradesh. We were seen off from Chennai by my parents and her father at the airport. On 13th morning, our flight (SpiceJet) took us from Chennai domestic airport to New Delhi. Our bus to Manali was only in the evening and hence we had some time to checkin at a hotel, relax ourselves.

We had an interesting development in getting the bus. The Makemytrip provided address was incorrect and hence we had to roam around the streets to locate the petrol bunk where the tourism bus would come and pick us. Makemytrip customer service was hopeless. The worst irresponsible answer I could get was ‘Sorry. We can not help locate the bus for you’. Again there were two buses and it was a bit of tough moments to find out the list among the crew and boarding the bus.

The bus started around 5.30 PM and after a bit of travel we had quick bites of dinner near a Punjabi dhaba en route. Towards morning, as Manali was nearing, we could feel the pinch of cold waves greeting us.  My sweetie had little trouble in managing through the sharp bends. I really wonder how come those Sardarji drivers are so versatile in getting that much speed in driving on those treacherous and sharp ghat roads. The bus reached Manali around 8.30 PM and our hotel cab came there to pick us up.

The next day we had a series of tourist spot visits in Manali like

  1. Hidimba Temple (Mahabharat Hidimba)
  2. Hot water spring
  3. Rohtang Pass
  4. A few Manali parks and shopping areas.
On 14th night we started back to New Delhi by bus and we were dropped in the bus stand by the hotel bus. After reaching New Delhi since again we had five hours for the flight we checked in to a hotel in Paharganj area, had some quick breakfasts there. We decided to have a trip to Karolbagh. A sad thing happened here.  A Keralite devil from Chennai was continuously giving missed calls to me and distracted me.  Lavy almost got disturbed and it took a bit of me to get her calm down from that disturbance.
Around 5.30 we started to New Delhi Airport to board our flight to Chennai en route Pune. In Pune again at 11.30 the flight had a technical snag and we had to de-board and board twice the flights. After fun-filled and adventure-filled journey we reached Chennai safely around 1 AM.
