Medical Tour for my LeTV 1s

Yesterday night my LeTV got powered down after battery drain. It normally happens and I just thought after midnight I would have the charger plugged on and have it up and running. But since morning the red indicator does not change amber after a long time which made me quite suspicious of something gone wrong. After some search in Internet figured  out that I would need a visit to the retailer. I took a print of the Flipkart invoice and visited the nearest center at Taramani. A few observations from Taramani are as below:

  1. The address at Kennedy Street, Thanthai Periyar Nagar, Taramani upstairs of Indian Overseas Branch (Taramani Link Road Branch) and at Pillayar Koil Stop might be easy to recognize through Google Maps but as usual when asked from auto drivers they give a circuitous route perhaps in an attempt to solicit a ride?
  2. Not satisfied with the way the service center responded and diluted the confidence level. Hence went to Thiruvanmiyur to meet a friend to take his advise and returned work.

Traffic is nightmarish even in off peak hours through OMR and Tidel Park Intersection.  BTW as an interesting observation I found a signage called Ticel Park near Tidel Park. I was thinking it might be a typo but then a Google search a few minutes back revealed that there is indeed a business park called Ticel Bio Park at the same neighborhood as Tidel Park.

Another coincidence in today morning traffic is that the Medavakkam – Perumbakkam was very less crowded and hence that was my chosen route than Velachery – Tambaram road to Taramani. And there were more buses in the former stretch too (and in the normal course of days it is otherwise)

Then I booked through a service online. I would post the service review in V&R.

Kaisikha Ekadasi Trip to Thirukkurungudi

This Kaisikha Ekadasi I was intending to travel to Thirukurungudi and hence had made the bookings right in the month of August itself. Nearest Railway station for the same is VLY (Valliyur) from where you would need to either take a bus or auto to Thirukurungudi. But a week before I made a slight change in the itinerary and got down at TEN (Tirunelveli) from where I had booked a cab from RS Cabs to help me tour around the following places and then drop me off Thirukurungudi by 7 PM because Kaisika Ekadasi celebrations is only in the night.

After completing all these by 1 PM we went to Thiruchendoor, had lunch and darshan there and then from there we went to Nanguneri (Vanamamalai) temple. After that we got dropped off in Thirukurungudi. The whole night we were in temple. After completing darshan in the morning we took an auto to Valliyur but the train was only towards evening. So while waiting in the station we went to the Murugan temple nearby.

Towards evening the train came and we started off. Both up and down were through Ananthapuri Express.

Tirumala and Kumbakonam Pilgrimage

Kumbakonam Oppiliappan is considered to be elder brother of Tirumala Srinivasa Perumal. I had been planning a trip to Tirumala and hence started on Friday afternoon. The train reached Tirupathi by 8.45 PM and then stayed at a relative house for that night. Next day morning went to Aliperi and boarded the bus to Tirumala. After a six hour queue had darshan of the Lord towards afternoon. Had food at the Annadhanam in the afternoon. And then started by bus to relatives house in the evening. On Sunday morning started to Srinivasam complex in Tirupathi and booked for Local Temple Tour by APTDC and TTD.  That covered most of the temples in the town including Thiruchanoor. Towards evening got the train back to Chennai. After reaching Chennai switched to Egmore station and boarded the train to Kumbakonam. The train reached Kumbakonam next day morning. Now started to Oppiliappan temple and had Sravana Deepam darshan by 11 AM.

Towards night caught the next train to Chennai to reach Tambaram by 4 AM.

Trip to Sri Brahmapureeswar Temple (Thirupattur near Tiruchi)

Yesterday night I boarded the Rockfort Express and reached Trichy today morning around 5 AM. The Trichy Waiting hall seemed to be little congested. However managed to get freshened up and then after having tiffin in a nearby hotel went to Chatram Bus Stand. From there inquired for a bus to Siruganoor to go Brahma temple. This was the temple one software company in Trichy guided me in order to visit the temple. It was a divine blessings that there was an announcement regarding a bus which goes to the temple itself just came to the bus stand. So boarded that bus and after about an hour’s journey reached the temple.

Had a good darshan in the temple and then started from there. In the temple there is a a  belief to take the original horoscope book and keep near Brahma to have the destiny re-written. After completing the darshan took the Trichy bound bus back but got down at Siruganur and then caught a Chennai bus from the highway. It was around a few hours journey and reached Chennai by evening.

Trip to Srisailam

This weekend was again a North-bound trip like the planned September first weekend. It was for Sri Sailam. I had booked the train Allepey Bokoro express. Incidentally what I observed with these trains is lot of passengers often waitlisted and general creep in general compartments and give a major problem for reserved passengers. Hope Indian Railways notices this.

The trip was little tricky to start. This weekend the train did not reach Chennai Central but took a detour from Perambur. So I had to travel to Perambur from Central to catch the train. I reached Ongole station quite early and then managed to get an auto to reach the bus stand by 4 AM. From there the five hour long bus to Srisailam started. When I reached Srisailam booked a room to take bath and finished darshan of the Lord. Then after lunch hired an auto for the darshan of small temples around. Then I halted the night at Srisailam. Next day morning after another darshan of the Lord, started from there to Ongole. From Ongole I caught the Howrah Chennai express at 10.45 to reach Chennai Central next day morning.

Significant Observations

  1. Ongole bus stand has to improve a lot. The buses need to have boards in trilingual/bilingual instead of just Telugu. I had submitted a petition for the same to Government of Andhra Pradesh. Also this bus stand does not have water amenities and the shop keepers force you to buy water bottles.
  2. More number of services between Ongole and Srisailam are desirable.

Rameswaram – Thiruppullani Weekend

This weekend was a trip to Rameshwaram. Though I had booked for Rameswaram alone at the last minute I had updated my itinerary to include Thiruppullani. So to reach Thiruppullani I got down at Ramanathapuram and moved to Ahobila Mutt cottage there. After the sea sankalpam and bath moved towards the temple for darshan. An interesting and a moving thing happened. Though the court could voice an end of relationship in July 2011, the sankalpams still upheld the relationships. 🙂

The temple was little crowdy and hence after darshan had some food with the priest home there. Had some rest in Ahobila Mutt and then toured around the market. There was a Desikan Sannidhi nearby and had darshan there also. Next day caught the first bus to Ramanathapuram at 5 AM and from there caught a bus to Rameswaram. It was a picturesque view of Pamban bridge as the bus zipped through the same.  Once at Rameswaram completed the sea sankalpam/bath and dips in 22 wells of the temple. After changing clothes at Sringeri Mutt there, completed darshan in the temple. Towards evening started to railway station to get the Sethu Express back to TBM.

Sravanam Pilgrimage to Kumbakonam

Going by the calendar I visited Kumbakonam Oppiliappan temple today by taking the train yesterday night from Tambaram. However on reaching the temple figured out that the Sravanam celebrations had got completed yesterday itself. It is because according to the almanac

September 14, 2016 – Wednesday
Time is from 10:24 AM on September 13 to 10:07 AM on September 14

So just worshipped the Lord and then took the bus from Kumbakonam to reach Chennai by night because for today’s pilgrimage it was not a weekend but I had taken a day off for the same. It wasn’t a setback though because anyway got an opportunity to have a darshan of the Lord.
